Good evening! The following are the announcements for the week of October 14th.
All drivers who pick up students in the afternoon are reminded to pull up as close as safely possible to the car in front of them. This will help prevent and clear the overflow of traffic into the road.
On Monday, October 14th, all 10th graders will take the PreACT at Bear Grass Charter School. Bojangles biscuits will be served to all test takers in the side hallway of the gym beginning at 7:40. Testing will begin after the 8:00 bell. Regular testing is scheduled to last until 11:15 and all students are expected to follow their regular school schedule for the remainder of the day.
The Chicken Mull Festival is being held this year in Bear Grass on Saturday, October 26th. Children ages 4-18 are invited to participate in the Chicken Mull Festival chicken show. Adults are also welcome to enter for exhibition judging. See the Chicken Mull Festival website or Mrs. Lawrence for the entry form.
Junior Beta Club will meet on Wednesday during 3rd period. Please wait for the announcement before reporting to the meeting.
Report cards are scheduled to go home on Thursday.
BGCS is hosting a college fair in the gym with over thirty colleges and universities. All juniors and seniors as well as their parents are invited to attend. Start time is 1:15. Juniors and seniors who are not on campus for 4th period are still highly encouraged to attend.
Select FFA members will attend the North Carolina State Fair on Friday. The buses depart at 7:00 am.
The Middle and High School Battle of the Books teams will meet on Friday, October 18, from 2:45-3:30.
The BGCS Fall Festival will take place on Friday, November 1st. The fun begins at 5:00 with games in the gym, cake walk in the media center, food for purchase in the cafeteria and mini pumpkin decorating beside the gym. Bingo in the band room and zombie laser tag on the tennis court starts at 5:30.
This year’s high school Winter Formal will be held at Sunset Stables in Robersonville on Saturday, December 14th. Tickets will be available for purchase (CASH ONLY) November 4th until December 2nd. If you plan to take a guest that does not attend Bear Grass Charter School, a form will need to be completed and returned. Please see Ms. Cumbee for tickets and guest forms.
Sports for the Week:
Eighth grade recognition night for middle school football will be on Wednesday, October 16th.
Senior night for high school soccer will be Tuesday, October 15th.
On Tuesday, the middle school volleyball team will host Bath for a 4:00 game. Gatekeeper is Ms. Rice. JV and Varsity volleyball will depart at 11:00 for their 4:30 games at Cape Hatteras. Men’s soccer will host Cape Hatteras at 6:00. Gatekeeper is Mrs. Mizell.
On Wednesday, the cross country team will depart at 11:30 for the conference meet at Cape Hatteras that begins at 4:30. JV and Varsity volleyball will host Cape Hatteras at 4:30. Middle school football will host St. Peters at 5:00. Gatekeeper is Miss Kennedy.
On Thursday, BGCS is hosting the IBAC middle school volleyball tournament beginning at 4:00. Gatekeeper is Mrs. Hines. Men’s soccer will depart at 3:30 for their 6:00 game at Mattamuskeet.
On Friday, the varsity football team will travel to Mattamuskeet High School for their 7:00 game.
