BCS Math Competition
Bear Grass Charter School participated in the BCS Math Competition, held virtually on Wednesday, March 3rd. There were 46 Bear Grass Charter students, from 6th grade through high school, socially distanced throughout our gymnasium and all logged on to the virtual math competition held by Beaufort County Schools on their laptops. All of our mathletes took a 35 question advanced math test based on their age level from 6th grade math through Calculus. We were so excited to be able to participate in a math competition this year, since last year’s Math Competitions were cancelled due to Covid. We are proud to announce that Mollie Chandler (8th grader) placed 10th and Claudia Hernandez (7th grader) placed 9th in the 7th/8th grade division, Hannah Holliday (9th grader) placed 8th place in Math 1, and Carsyn Briley (10th grader) placed 9th in the Math 2 Division. The BGCS Math 3 Team won the 1st place team award in the Math 3 Division. Team members are all 10th graders at BGCS: Jaden Williamston (placed 1st overall), Savannah Hale (placed 5th overall), Caden Cullipher (placed 7th overall), Madeline Chandler (placed 9th overall), Cayden Council, Lauren Leggett, and Kiara Smith. In the Comprehensive division, Brandon Arrants (11th grader) placed 9th, and Melissa Peaks (11th grader) placed 5th. We are so very proud of all of our mathletes that participated in their very first virtual math competition! Way to go Bears!!!
